Watch 2013 College Football in Seattle | UW Huskies, PAC-12, Food & Drink Specials

Watch Washington Huskies in SeattleWhen the University of Washington Huskies walk onto the field at newly renovated Husky Stadium for their season opener this Saturday, one thing will look exactly the same: their opponent.

Perhaps fittingly, the Huskies 2013 season begins against the #19 Boise State Broncos, the same team who ended their 2012 season with a frustrating loss in the 28-26 loss in the Macco Las Vegas Bowl and dropping them to an overall 7-6 record.

With 20 starters returning from last year, coach Steve Sarkisian calls this his most talented team since arriving in 2009. Offensively, the Huskies are hoping for a rebound season from QB Keith Price, and a monster one from RB Bishop Sankey. If those two things can happen, and WR Kasen Williams and all-potential everything TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins can stay on the field (and out of trouble), the offense should put up big numbers. Defensively the Huskies are led by a speedy and athletic group of linebackers, most notably converted DB Shaq Thompson. The return of injured DE Hau’oli Kikaha (who changed his last name from Jamora) is significant to help improve a defensive front that struggled against the run and needs to develop a consistent pass rush.

Redemption is certainly a theme of the 2013 Huskies football season. Revenge, however, would be the dish best served on Saturday, signifying a huge win to open the season and the first step towards what must be the goal of a 4-0 record when they go into facing the #4 Stanford Cardinal and #3 Oregon Ducks on back-to-back weekends in October (the 5th @ Stanford, and the 12th at Husky Stadium).

Of course, the first task won’t be easy. All Boise State seems to do is win–going 84-8 in the last 7 seasons under coach Chris Petersen, who are again expected to contend for the Mountain West Conference and a possible BCS bowl bid. At least no one can blame the Huskies for padding the redemption schedule – Jeremy Hadley
