Looking for a way to turn Seattle into a giant game board? Make it your New Year’s Resolution to discover new things about Seattle with a city-wide scavenger hunt!

Urban Adventure Quest has created an interactive scavenger hunt that combines the fun of the Amazing Race with a three-hour sightseeing tour of Seattle. Guided from any smart phone, groups make their way among well-known and overlooked gems of the city, solving clues and completing challenges while learning local history.

The adventure begins at the Seattle Center, home of the Space Needle, and takes you on a journey to see the best sights of the city. From the art and sculptures of the Seattle Center to hidden gems of downtown and Pikes Place, you will enjoy all that Seattle has to offer. The tour requires approximately 2.0 miles of walking and you will also experience the city’s famous monorail.

Using a smart phone as “the guide” allows participants to start when they want and determine their own pace of play. Stop to enjoy lunch or take in the sights… why not, it’s your schedule? Offered at a fixed price for a group vs. per person pricing, this city tour/game offers a great value to those on a budget.

I’m planning a little staycation in early February and this sounds like the perfect thing to add to our agenda. So far: concert at the Triple Door, Ferris wheel, and dinner at Il Bistro.

I get lost really easily, so if I did this alone it’d be like an episode of Naked and Afraid, except with less fear and nudity. Once I left from the international district and ended up near West Seattle by accident. Special shout out to Seattle’s grid streets for getting me home all the time.

But I’d totally do this with people who can navigate, so all of us have fun.

I’m terrible with directions and am hopeless when looking at a map. Although I may be the most useless member of the team, I will most definitely be the life of the par-tay!

Saw a team wearing toutou for the scavenger hunt, and REALLY wanted to join. If I get this, I’ll do something crazy as well!! :)

  25. Stephanie January 24, 2015 at 6:31 pm #

  26. Dzung January 25, 2015 at 11:25 am #

Living in Seattle for the past 10 years and I can honestly say I haven’t really had the chance to take in the sights. I love games and puzzles so this is definitely my type of activity!

  27. ellen johnson January 26, 2015 at 1:55 pm #

Wow! Who knew there was something this cool. I live over on Vashon and feel like I am a Seattle-idiot in need of some education. This is the most fun way I can imagine to run around the city and have a blast learning all about the “big city.” There is a small group of us who would just love this day of old fashioned good clean fun made all the better by technology! I LOVE THIS idea. :-)

  28. Cassie December 21, 2015 at 4:19 pm #

Would love to do this with family visiting from all over the country for the holidays! What a fun idea!!

  29. Courtney December 27, 2015 at 7:12 pm #

I’m planning a trip up there in late January with my boyfriend who has never been to Seattle. Seems like a fantastic way to explore together!

  30. Cynthia Erika Silvestre January 9, 2016 at 12:40 pm #

I have never done a scavenger hunt before. And what better time than when just having moved to a new state!

  31. Kande January 10, 2016 at 1:04 am #

I was born and raised in Seattle and have never seen the sites nor delved too deep into the history! Not to mention, I love Amazing Race and it sounds like the hunt you’ve created in its likeness would be a blast! I’m almost thirty and it’s a new year so, it’s time. I would be over the moon, ecastatic, if I won this drawing; I would keep my fingers and toes crossed if I thought it would help!
Happy New Year, all! : )
