Seattle Polo and Equestrian Club, the premier polo club in the Pacific Northwest, is pleased to announce its biggest event of the summer, the USPA Seattle Cup Tournament and Polo Party, on August 8th – 9th, 2015 to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital. Working with the Dream Builder’s Guild benefitting Seattle Children’s Hospital, a portion of Polo Party proceeds will provide funds for uncompensated care and cancer research. For more than 100 years, Seattle Children’s has been dedicated to providing top-quality medical care to children in the Pacific Northwest regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Last year alone over $120 million in uncompensated care was provided to families in need, and this year’s Polo Party will contribute to the continued success.

Throughout the event weekend, spectators may watch the games and enjoy the social aspect of polo. Saturday will host two qualifying games with the consolation and finals games played on Sunday. Tickets are available at including general admission, tailgating parking, VIP, VIP Elite and private VIP cabanas. Attendees in general admission are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to sit in the grass and view the games field-side. Food will be available for purchase for general admission with both VIP tents providing a catered brunch on Sunday.

On Saturday, the games are at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm, and admission allows viewing of both games. On Sunday, the consolation game will be played at noon and the tournament finals at 2:00 pm, with a polo party atmosphere and a “big hats” theme for women. SPEC will offer entertainment in-between the games, a trophy and award presentation, and the traditional divot stomp at halftime. Seating in one of the two VIP tents is available for those who prefer a full-service experience.

Polo, one of the oldest team sports in history, originated in Persia more than 2,000 years ago, and has spread around the world since then. The United States Polo Association (USPA) was created in 1890 and now boasts more than 250 active polo clubs throughout the country. Polo in the United States is traditionally played in the summer months with the winter polo season played in dry areas of the southern states.

Seattle Polo and Equestrian Club (SPEC), which features 68 acres of equestrian facilities including a regulation- size polo field, practice polo field, two riding arenas, stables for 60 horses, pasture for an additional 60 horses, individual polo lessons and polo clinics, kicked off the polo season last summer with a practice game open to the public, drawing more than 300 local attendees.

My husband and I have never experienced a polo event and are very interested to have the opportunity to do something new together! We would definitely love to win the VIP package; however, will enjoy this event regardless! :)

Hello and thank you so much for making it possible to dream of attending your event!

I would very much like to attend this years event for a few reasons. Firstly, I would love to support the Seattle Children’s Hospital Benefit – an important fundraiser for our community! Many years ago my son experienced that organization and thankfully we were able to manage our expenses – however, we deeply understand the need for fundraising to assist families that are not so fortunate. If my name is not drawn – I would still like to participate and assist with fundraising.

Next reason – Your event falls on my birthday! I have not had any birthday surprises and or plans for years – what with work and other commitments and it would be marvelous to attend THIS event on my special day! I would love to bring my daughter and introduce her to Polo on this level and inspire her to be the newest member of our community to be active and supportive.

Also – I would create a hat ( or two or more ) and proudly strut about and show my enthusiasm for tradition!

Divot stomp…? You bet! I will stomp, toe and lovingly replace – along with my daughter.. with great big smiles as well as tireless greetings for our newly met friends on the field.

Finally – and once more. Thank you for hosting this event. How lovely!

    Sincerely yours,

Would love to go out and enjoy watching a horse sport other than the one I compete in normally!

I’m a Seattleite that lives in Lima, but returns every August for seafair and the Seattle polo tournament. This is the first year I don’t have tickets, and I have a passion for polo!!! Although I’ve watched polo matches all over the world, there is nothing like watching it in the Pacific Northwest.

  7. John July 21, 2015 at 2:33 pm #

We went last year and had an amazing! time. Really looking forward to the event this year.

  8. Sasha Peretti July 21, 2015 at 2:42 pm #

I would like to win as I miss going and seeing the polo where I’m from on the island of Oahu. Mahalo.

I would like to attend this event (and win free VIP tickets!) because I am an avid equestrian who has affiliations with local Polo clubs, NPOs, and most recently worked with performance show horses as well as race horses. As far as I know the Seattle Polo Club is a new venture and this event is the first of its kind with a lot of people coming up from California. I have a background in marketing and PR and am very curious about this event. Furthermore, I am a supporter of The Seattle Children’s Hospital and would honestly rather spend my money donating to their cause, so if I am able to win these tickets that would be ideal and I can help you advertise for your event in addition to the cause. Cheers!

I have always wanted to attend a Polo match. Growing up we used to pretend to play polo on our horses with sticks and pinecones. What fun!
I just found out about the seattle cup tournament. Not only is it Polo, it’s for a great cause!

  11. Susan July 21, 2015 at 3:12 pm #

Going to the event as a VIP would make this the premier event of my summer!! Will be in attendance regardless to show support for a great organization!

  12. Gina July 21, 2015 at 3:21 pm #

It would be such a joy to win USPCA Tournament and Polo Party tickets! This would be a perfect celebration with my equestrian daughter. We love supporting Seattle Children’s.Thank you for considering.

Luxe VIP tickets to the Seattle Polo Party AND my bar tab will benefit Seattle Children’s? Sign me up!!

I have been interested in attending the event since I heard about it back in April. Although I’ve never been to a polo match, I’m a huge fan of horse racing and love any excuse to get outside and indulge in a bit of day drinking, so I thought the USPA Seattle Cup sounded like heaven.

Every year, for the past five, I have hand crafted a new big hat to wear for the Kentucky Derby. Even with my lovely girlfriends wearing my past creations, each hat only makes it out of the hatbox for such a short time. The opportunity to bring out one of my best toppers for the VIP party will be so much fun. For the sake of my haberdashery-obsession, I would love to be picked. Cheers!

  15. Olga July 21, 2015 at 8:19 pm #

We have a large group of friends going and it would be wonderful to have a couple more VIP tickets. Thanks for the chance to win these! :)

  18. Tena July 23, 2015 at 5:04 am #

Never been to a polo game. Seems like that’s reserved for high society. Would love to experience it.

As a first timer it would nice to attend this event and also attract new followers to a great tradition and sporting event. What’s not to love about the beauty of a proper polo match, horses, big hats, fun people, mimosas and repairing divots. But above all, this event is also about supporting Seattle Children’s Hospital and to help Dream Builder’s Guild do it’s magic in helping others. Looking forward to the event!! Cheers!

Would love to attend this grand event. I lost my aunt to cancer. My cousin recently lost her husband to cancer and my other cousin is fighting cancer. My grandpa had colon and skin cancer. My best friend had skin cancer. Cancer sucks.

  24. Sasha July 27, 2015 at 3:32 pm #

    yes. polo! yes.

  25. Victoria A. July 28, 2015 at 8:02 am #

I played polo in high school and miss it so much. It’s expensive to play (which is why I played on a full scholarship in school) and expensive to go see. It’s hard to see a polo match when you work a barely above minimum wage job. Plus, I can fit in my best “job interview/wedding guest/cocktail party” dress and need an occasion to wear it! :)

Side note: the horse I rode for most of my matches was a painted named Cassie. Cassie loved apples and didn’t like me. If I approached her without an apple, she would try to nip me. I always used apples to distract her so I could ride without getting bitten. The coaches made me switch to a different horse soon after they noticed that Cassie was gaining weight from eating too many apples.

  27. Nora Branson July 28, 2015 at 1:49 pm #

Would love to win tickets to the polo match. I’ve seen smaller matches but this looks like one for the books!!

I have never been at a polo tournament and party but I love horses and I would be more than excited to participate!! Also to have the opportunity of helping Seattle children`s hospital is the best motivation to attend this event! I hope I will win the tickets!!

  30. Ramona July 29, 2015 at 1:52 pm #

I love horses, and hats and this sort of sport, and brunch. The whole thing. It sounds excellent.

  31. Shawn H July 30, 2015 at 11:20 am #

I live with an equestrian, so this would be heaven for her.

  32. Alyssa Darby July 30, 2015 at 11:43 am #

  33. Deidre July 30, 2015 at 2:27 pm #

  34. Perry July 30, 2015 at 2:48 pm #

I’ve always wanted to go to a Pollo match this would be crazy fun!

  35. Brian Crouch July 31, 2015 at 4:52 pm #

I’d like to attend because my kids have never seen a polo event, and because I have friends among those attending, sponsoring or competing.

  36. Gretche Crouch July 31, 2015 at 4:54 pm #

I’m a nurse at Seattle Children’s and I love the Dream Builder’s Guild! The help they bring is so important to the hospital.

  37. Jennifer July 31, 2015 at 8:07 pm #

Horses, fun hats, and champagne–can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

  38. Becky Davis August 1, 2015 at 8:14 am #

I grew up on Whidbey Island where there was not a lot to do. Dad bought a beautiful filly named Firefly and broke and trained her. Those years of horse love are long gone but not my desire to see the beauty and power of God’s creature doing what they love to do.

I would love the opportunity to attend and feel the exhiliration of a fabulous day and support the cause for Seattle Children’s hospital
